The music of Ancient Greece

Since today is Greek Independence Day I thought I would share a post about the importance of music in Greek history.

For a taste of more modern Greek music see here Rebetika.

Have you any stories to share about what is important in your culture?

Best wishes

  1. The old blues songs that came out of the Mississippi river delta that flowed across America before everything became confused. Music has a language of its own.

      1. We don’t have an independence day because the process was slow departure from (or transferring) the Ottoman Empire. Instead we have one day when we celebrate the foundation of the parliament and then one for the foundation of republicanism as a way of governing. Both were steps to the new country.
